Welcome to Ichneumoninae of the World

"Ichneumoninae of the World" is a virtual scientific portal dedicated to one of the largest subfamily of Darwin wasps: Ichneumoninae (Hymenoptera, Ichneumonoidea, Ichneumonidae). With more than 4,000 described species in more than 400 genera, the subfamily has been notoriously difficult to handle. Morevoer, the recent discontinuity of Taxapad 2016, one of the largest database daily employed by Ichneumonoid workers, has probably increased the already present frustration toward the group. Therefore, an online and readily updatable catalogue, containing all the names (genus and species), all the references, all the known distribution and host record, is crucial for a safe advancement of the systematic knowledge of the subfamily.

The portal is currently under construction. If you would like to become a contributor or editor, please click on "Contact us": we would be extremely happy to have you as a contributor for this experiment.

Collaboration is the key for success in this modern era of science.
